Useful Information
Collecting, Transporting and Storing Your Cake
-
All orders must be collected free of charge from Charly's Bakes by prior arrangement. I accept no responsibility for any damage sustained to the cake once it has left the premises.
-
Your cake will be assembled and stored in a cake box for you. When carrying your cake it is important that the cake is kept flat and that you hold the cake underneath the box, never at the sides. Avoid tipping the box back towards you as this could lead to any toppers toppling off the cake or cause the cake to slide.
-
I highly recommend you transport your cake in the boot of the car. If you don’t have any boot space, a footwell would be the next best place (without the heating on).
-
To avoid the box slipping around, you could you use a non-slip mat such as a Yoga mat underneath the box.
-
Drive carefully! Avoid sudden braking and take corners as slowly as you can. Plan your route to avoid speed bumps if possible.
-
When you get the cake home keep it at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Do not put the cake in the fridge as this will make the fondant covering or modelled decorations sweat.
-
All cakes/items are the responsibility of the customer once they are collected. Charly's Bakes is not responsible for any damages to the cake/items which occur during transportation, set-up or any time thereafter.
-
Instructions on how to carry, transport, and store your cake are advised on collection. Keep in mind that cakes are very fragile and damages can happen if not handled properly. Charly's Bakes will have no responsibility for any damage sustained to the cake once it has left the premises.
-
Should you have an accident with the cake, please contact Charly's Bakes as soon as possible and I will try to help you. This may incur an extra charge.
IMPORTANT ALLERGEN INFORMATION
-
Please specify any allergies upon enquiring. All cakes and products are produced in a kitchen that handles all allergens including nuts.
-
All my products may contain traces of the following allergens: Eggs, wheat containing gluten, dairy, milk, some contain nuts, rapeseed oil, barley, alcohol, or soya. They are not suitable for people with coeliac disease and those with severe allergy/intolerance.
-
An information sheet is supplied with all orders stating allergens and non-edible decorations. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure their guest are aware of this information and it is given to the venue if relevant. However please contact me with any special dietary requirements and we will try to accommodate.
-
I have the highest standards in food safety and cleanliness. I work within the Food Agency's guidelines for 'Safe Food, Better Business', along with attaining my Food safety level 2 and food allergy and intolerance training.
NON-EDIBLE DECORATIONS
-
An Information Sheet will be supplied with all cake orders, this includes allergen information and any non-edible decorations. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure their guest are aware of this information and ensure it is given to your venue.
-
Fresh flowers are not included in the price of any cake design. If a cake is to be dressed with fresh flowers these are to be provided by your florist. NB. Please note some flowers are not suitable for use as a cake decoration. Ask your florist for details regarding toxicity. I will not be liable for any contamination to my food product that may arise from their misuse.
-
If your cake contains figures made from sugar paste, whilst sometimes edible, I do not advise that they be eaten, due to the possible presence of dowels for reinforcement.
-
Stacked cakes contain dowels in each tier to provide support and these should be removed before consumption.
-
My cakes are made in an environment where nuts, egg, milk, gluten and other allergens are present. I cannot guarantee that any cake is entirely allergen free although I make every effort to ensure that allergies are accommodated.
Shelf Life
-
My cakes are best eaten within 2 days of collection. Please do not place cakes covered in sugar paste in the fridge. Once cut the cakes are best stored in an airtight container.
-
Cakes with chocolate ganache should be stored in the fridge if possible and to be eaten within 4 days of collection. If stored out of fridge eat within 2 days of collection.
